To the busy parent who wants to balance work and family life… someday.

You’ve made the commitment to work from home, take your part-time project full-time. I’ve been there.

Family life doesn’t need to mean playing small with your business.

It is possible to be the parent you want to be and find joy in your work. It’s not a trade off. It’s certainly a balance, but it’s a very achievable one.

The key is getting solid foundations in place to carry your brand, then you’re set up to play the long game.

I was desperate to find the‘thing’ that gave me the work/life balance I was craving.

Back when I was in advertising, I was known to have many-a side project (on top of my very demanding day-job).

My name’s Kelly, but you can think of me as the Del Boy of home-grown businesses — I tried my hand as a Reiki healer and a children’s events provider, started an online clothing company and built horseboxes (to name a few).

I wanted something that would give me that freedom to work when I wanted, travel with the family and indulge in my horse eventing when I wanted to.

Something that was all mine.

But the hours I could dedicate to my own endeavours were few and far between. Late nights, too much caffeine, endless online courses, stolen hours during the kids’ nap time.

The turning point was when I realised it wasn’t possible to continue the 9-to-5 slog and make it for the school run on time.

It got to the eekk *wince* moment when I told my boss I was leaving to start my new adventure.

But it felt so freeing —  no more having to be somewhere at a certain time or place. No more commuting. In my cosy little corner of Surrey, my life as a web designer was sprouting shoots. I could work when I wanted to and set my own deadlines around my family and travel.

All sound a bit too familiar? I’d love to chat more.

How your business can flourish – without needing to be at your laptop.

When I found website design, it was combining all my skills from my previous life in London.

One thing that the 9-to-5 life did teach me was how to attract and keep customers, no matter the size of your business. In our little corner of the internet wilderness, we try to keep things well pruned and healthy. (You might have got a clue from our name.)

We’re not just building a brand for you, we’re designing it. From the roots up, the foundations are there to save you time into the future too – even after our time together is done.

So during every single project, we always ask ourselves:

  • How can we develop your branding to appeal to your dream customers?

  • Is there something that we can do to allow a slicker client journey through your website?

  • What does your design need to make your future clients feel supported and excited to work with you?

  • How can the website take on jobs that you’re currently spending too much time doing yourself?

  • What do we need to do to translate your experience and unique story into the design?

So my own strong website and branding means that I can spend so much more time on adventures with my husband Jon and Grace and Jake, my little two — you only get this time once with them, eh. And my website is still doing its job, but without the need for my constant attention.

Master the art of juggling it all.

Whatever your ‘thing’ is — if you’re helping make people’s lives better, creating something beautiful and bespoke or you’re trying to make a positive change in some other way — don't shy away from it. You can carry on and find fulfilment from it, without skipping a bedtime story.

This flexibility has been a game-changer for me. And I can work from anywhere! Fancy a bit of this too?
